Library Cards are Free!

Patron Library Card Application Applicants for Pioneer Heritage Library cards must show identification with a current residential address. Identification with only a post office box number or with a motel or hotel address is not considered valid. Although not required, applicants may be requested to provide a Social Security number at the time of registration. All cards are valid for one year, at the end of which time applicants may be asked to present an acceptable form of identification for address verification. The Library may, at any time before the expiration date, require that current address identification be shown; so borrowers should bring appropriate identification in addition to their Pioneer Heritage Library card. For applicants under the age of sixteen (16), a parent or legal guardian must be present with the applicant and sign the application. Young people between sixteen (16) and eighteen (18) years of age will be issued a Pioneer Heritage Library card upon presentation of acceptable identification; the Library will provide written notification to the parents or legal guardians of children within this age group that their child has been issued a Pioneer Heritage Library card. Parents or guardians will be responsible for all items checked out on their children’s cards. Lost and Forgotten Cards Library users must present a valid Pioneer Heritage Library card for check-out of all library materials. If they forget to bring their cards to the library, they may show proper identification to the staff. If the staff can verify the validity of their cards on the computer system, check-out will be permitted. Library users who have lost their Pioneer Heritage Library cards may apply for new ones by showing valid identification (see above) and paying a non-refundable $1.00 replacement charge. If they later find their first card, it must be destroyed or returned to the library for disposal.
